Gill Goddon

Who’s the face behind Gill’s Creative Cakes?

I’m Gill Goddon and I bake, create, cook, experiment and eat in my kitchen in Bath. I’ve had a lifelong passion for food and cookery, if I’m honest it’s more of a passion for eating. I feel every bad meal is a wasted meal. Friends frequently ask for recipe and restaurant recommendations, hopefully because they trust my taste buds. I learnt to cook by watching my mum and nana, and my interest was developed further by passionate teachers at school. I went on to study a BSc (Hons) Home Economics degree at Cardiff University. This landed me a job with Nestle in product development, where I spent 15 excellent years. What could be better than researching, discussing and eating food with a team of like-minded people and being paid for it! I developed many products, but one coup was developing a Tiramisu which was manufactured in the UK and exported to Italy.

My first proper venture into cake decorating was over 20 years ago when I made both my brothers' wedding cakes and then my own. I continued to bake for family and friends, and was often asked when I was going to start my own cake business. However, it wasn't  until I had had a brand new kitchen installed and my friend Sally asked if I could make her dad's 90th birthday cake, I agreed and the project evolved from here.

I don’t take on too many cake orders so that I can produce something that I’m proud of and more importantly would look forward to sharing with my friends and family.

Why not give me a try?

I’d love to hear from you, it can get quite lonely working by yourself and I love a chat!

Thank you
